ARC Conference 2008: Call for Workshop Proposals

ARC Conference 2008

Voyage of Discovery

For providers who want to get ahead

18 - 20 November 2008
Southport, Lancashire

The ARC Annual Conference is the learning disability event of the year for service providers!

The conference this year will be exploring the lands that service providers are travelling to and identify the routes that will make the journey shorter, easier and enlightening! There will be several not-to-be missed keynote speakers to set us all off in the right directions. In addition we are looking for proposals for workshops that will inspire us on our way.

If you have been involved with, or have heard of, any new and innovative practices in the learning disability sector let us know! Workshop facilitators get a free place for the day, so spread the word!

We are particularly keen to attract workshops that describe how cutting edge providers are undertaking the journey to new types of service and new ways of working, such as:

  • individual funding
  • supplying services to direct payment and individual budget holders
  • responding to people using self directed support
  • dealing with funding gaps as service users move on to more independence
  • managing the shift of power and the effects this has on the organisation
  • moving from caring to enabling
  • changing your organisation and supporting others through change

The new conference format will take place from the evening of Tuesday 18 November until lunch time on Thursday 20 November 2008.

Informal enquiries are welcome by contacting Janet Fairley on 01246 251979. Proposals on the form that can be downloaded by clicking here (handwritten proposals are acceptable) should be submitted in writing by post/fax or email before 6 June 2008 to:
