Update - March 2009

In August we asked for your help in compiling a photographic library of people with a learning disability to help share good practice and promote the work of ARC and our membership organisations within the learning disability sector.

We asked for your photos showing people with a learning disability in a positive light and to inspire you we suggested three categories - community, fun & leisure and work.

I am delighted to announce that Paula Connolly from L'arche Liverpool Community has won!

L'arche is a Christian organisation where people's faith and spirituality are central to daily life, Paula sent us several photos of many 'core members' in various situations.

The winning photographs - chosen by you, ARC members, were:

Guitar
A photo of Bobby, aged 48, in July 2008 at L'arche in Liverpool playing his guitar.

Here are just some of the comments people made about this photograph:

'I love this picture, the guy is so involved in his instrument and his music'

'Fantastic photos showing a range of activities'

'He looks like a very professional musician'

Swing

A photo of Andrew, aged 34 in June 2007 in Prague, Czech Republic on a swing.

Here are just some of the comments people made about this photograph:

'Simple, infectious fun that we almost all love to indulge in'

'You can see he's really enjoying himself, his smile made me smile!'

'I love the image of play and trust in this photo'

'It shows happiness and relaxation in a world which can often be found lacking'

Both photographs were entered into the Friends and Community category.

We are pleased to congratulate Paula on her wonderful, positive photographs and to all those who entered thank you very much and please try again this year!
