2006
Over the past 18 months ARC have been working together with the Commission for Social Care Inspection Chief Pharmacist, and a number of organisations who provide care and support services to vulnerable adults, to identify best practice in handling medication.
The outcome of this work is a suite of products designed to ensure that care staff are trained and competent in this area of their work, and that organisations policies and procedures meet the required standards. The materials, which have been approved the Royal Pharmaceutical Society offer the option of independent external assessment.
Many thanks to all those who have assisted in the development of the project. This work is now complete and the framework documents are attached below, and these are all free to download from this website.
The materials provide clear links to Skills for Care Knowledge & Skills set, Social Care Induction Framework Wales, General Social Care Council & Care Council Wales, Codes of Practice, National Occupational Standards (NVQ levels 2 and 3).Additional materials consist of a trainers resource pack – to help trainers develop their own course, or check an existing course against best practice standards, a taught programme which can be delivered to staff in their workplace, and a distance learning pack which staff and managers can use to enable learning to take place at a person’s own pace.
Contact the ARC office for futher information about these products.
