Medication Training

Medication Training and Independent External Assessment by TASSUK

The Association for Real Change (ARC) has been involved in a
12 month project funded by the Department of Health which reviewed the handling of medication in social care settings. CSCI inspectors, Skills for Care, service providers, pharmacists and other health care professions were actively involved in the development of the project.

The project produced a range of training products and services. The materials are approved by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and are tracked to current NOS and GSCC/CCW codes of practice and the Welsh Social Care Induction Framework. In England they meet the Skills for Care medication knowledge set learning outcomes.

Three publications produced by The Stationery Office (TSO) are now available:

For further information on these TSO products please click on the links above to see details on the TSO website, or contact them by email, or call 0870 243 0123 (half price for ARC Members), or 0870 600 5522 (for non-ARC Members).

One day training course
Using the materials produced by the project, ARC offers a one-day generic training course which includes external assessment to agreed National benchmarks, and a certificate of achievement that can provide evidence for NVQs and CSCI inspectors.

Train the Trainer one day course
ARC also offers a Train the Trainer course for those trainers who would like support in using the Trainers' Manual to run their own Handling Medication programmes. The course includes the Trainer’s manual.
