Handling Medication in Social Care

During a 12-month project, funded by the Department of Health, ARC reviewed the handling of medication in social care settings

CSCI Inspectors, Skills for Care, service providers and other healthcare professionals were all actively involved. As a result, a range of material and resources have been produced, which are endorsed by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and CSCI. These materials are tracked to the current NOS and GSCC/CCW Codes of Practice and the Welsh Social Care Induction Framework. In England they meet the Skills for Care medication knowledge set learning outcomes.

The suite comprises:

  • Training Guidance and Resources - For use by trainers/managers who wish to check their current medication training or design a new programme
  • Trainer's Manual - An 'off the shelf' ready to use one-day training programme
  • Distance Learning Pack

These three titles are published and distributed by The Stationery Office - email TSO Customer Services or call
