Standardisation Events
The Standardisation Events for 2009/10 are now drawing to a close. Thank you to everyone who attended particularly those of you who battled in the snow and apologies for the ones we had to postpone due to the weather! In this year's sessions items covered; included Assessor and Verifier competency, CPD, Star Units, P.T.T.L.S and the new improved ARC Training Services section on the ARC website.
We also took the opportunity to collect Assessors and Internal Verifiers original certificates, C.V and CPD activity to update our records in accordance with QCA Quality Code of Practice and City & Guilds policy. For those Assessors and Internal Verifiers who did not bring the requested documents to Standardisation we have asked that they send them in to the office prior to the next City & Guilds E.V visit for their region so that there certificates can be authenticated and they are able to continue within our NVQ scheme, further details on this can be obtained from our office.
This years Standardisations have proved to be a great success, and lots of you felt that they have gained a great deal by attending them, here is some of the feedback from our 2009/2010 events:
“Useful clarification and reminder of the importance of planning, supporting and assessing to standards. [It was] very useful to see examples of [the] consequences of poor planning and referencing.”
“Went over each standard for A1 - [it] is a good reminder of how to apply good practice.”
“Excellent presentation.”
“Nice informal session, [there were] opportunities to ask questions.”
“Group discussions with other assessors to discuss different problems, [it] worked well.”

FORTHCOMING EXTERNAL VERIFICATION VISIT FROM CITY & GUILDS
E.V. visits take place on a regular basis for Health & Social Care, the Registered Managers Award and Leadership & Management Awards. These are being split into North and South visits for organisations located in these regions. There are a few exceptions to the rule, for instance Northern Ireland is classed as being in the South!
The next visit for the South takes place on Wednesday 14 April, this is an amended date which has been rescheduled from March.
As soon as we have been advised which candidates' work the E.V. wishes to see, we will be contacting the relevant Internal Verifiers to liaise with candidates and organisations to submit portfolios.
At this time we will also be requesting any outstanding original Assessor & Internal Verifiers certificates that have not yet been submitted to the ARC Training Services Centre.
We could be in touch with YOU soon!
