Department of Health: A consultation on the framework for the registration of health and adult social care providers

This consultation relates to the establishment of the new Care Quality Commission and what services in health and social care should be rgistered with effect from 2010. It is proposing, for instance that primary care services should be regisered, and also has consultation enquiries relating to the requirement for a registered manager.

Office for Disability Issues: Independent Living - a cross government strategy about independent living for disabled people

Involving the Department for Work and Pensions, the Department for Transport, the Department of Health, the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the Communities and Local Government Department and the Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills. The aim of the five year Strategy is that

  • disabled people who need support to go about their daily lives will have greater choice and control over how support is provided
  • disabled people will have greater access to housing, transport. health, employment, education and leisure opportunities and to participation in family and community life.

The Commission for Social Care Inspection: Adult Social Care Performance Assessment

They would like to your views on the following areas of CSCI’s performance assessment of adult social care:

  • Changes to the grade descriptors under the outcomes: we want to make sure that these align with government policy
  • The self-assessment survey (SAS): we want to make it easier and more efficient for councils to submit information about their residents

Department of Health:  Towards a Strategy to support volunteering in health and social care

A volunteering strategy for health and social care will articulate the key actions needed to address the perceived obstacles to making a refreshed vision for volunteering in health and social care a reality.  Informed by this consultation process, the proposed strategy will provide a framework through which to pursue long-term organisational and culture change across the whole system to support volunteering more effectively, in relation to:

  • individual volunteers
  • effective management within organisations
  • commissioning environment and infrastructure
  • promoting partnership, and
  • leadership,across the public and third sectors

A cross-government six month long consultation to debate the future shape of care and support services for the whole of adult social care in England. The government wants to seek the public's views on creating a new system that

  • Promotes independence, choice and control for everyone who uses the care and support system
  • Ensures everyone can receive the high quality care and support they need, and that government support should be targeted at those most in need
  • Is affordable for government, individuals and families in the long-term.

Regional events with a final national event will be held during the six month consultation period, after which a Green Paper with proposals will be published. A new website has been created for this consultation: http://www.careandsupport.direct.gov.uk/

Wales

The Welsh Assembly Government - Health and Social Services: A Well Being and Mental Health Service Fit for Wales

The Minister for Health and Social Services has launched this consultation paper, that proposes a statutory body to be responsible for these services. Learning disability services would be included.
