Supported Living is more than just a new address - Supported Living means giving disabled people the individualised support they need to live the lives they choose in a home of their choice.
This one-day training course offers a general introduction to Supported Living. It will enable participants to understand the principles of Supported Living, how it is different from existing residential services and issues of values, practice, structure and policy that will need to be addressed for supported living to be accomplished in their agency. The training should inform, enthuse and inspire participants to develop a commitment to Supported Living.
Course Objectives
- Provide an opportunity to reflect on past and current services
- Understand the distinctive features of Supported Living
- Understand the values and principles behind Supported Living
- Understand the importance of informal support arrangements
- Understand what is possible in developing Supported Living
- Understand the organisational and systems challenge in developing Supported Living

Unless otherwise stated all training sessions run from 10.00am-4.30pm (with tea/coffee available from 9.30am)
