Learning Outcomes - by the end of the course particpants will have a basic understanding of diabetes and will be able to:
- Identify factors which might take people more vulnerable to diabetes
- Identify factors which might make people more vulnerable to hypoglycaemic attack
- Be aware of signs of hypoglycaemia
- Understand how to respond to hypoglycaemia
- Identify how to support the self management of diabetes
- Identify the related conditions that can develop in people with diabetes
- Identify ways of helping a service user to minimise the risk of developing complications
- Follow specialist advice
- Maintain accurate records
- Understand the possible social impact of diabetes for the service usuer
