The Getting Started Project is funded through the European Social Fund (ESF), Department for Employment & Learning and is in partnership with:
• Association for Real Change (ARC)
• Belfast Health & Social Care Trust
• Positive Futures
• South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust
Getting Started will support unemployed people to address barriers to becoming involved in paid employment in direct care by participating in a 10-day pre-recruitment programme. Taking part will provide opportunities to develop skills, which will help individuals to secure employment within the social care sector.
The project will specifically target women, older people (50+), unemployed parents with caring responsibilities and people with inadequate basic skills.
A range of activities currently exist for the development and support of prospective Getting Started clients including job mentoring and support linked to statutory benefits and community based schemes aimed at developing self esteem and promoting self help.
