Talking Money is a joint project between ARC Scotland and ENABLE Scotland, and is funded by the Royal Bank of Scotland during 2008. It aims to make it easier for people with learning disabilities to access banking services and for them to be financially included in society.
The project is working in partnership with
- People with learning disabilities
- Parents and carers
- Providers of housing and support services
- Local authorities
- Representatives from the financial sector
- Agencies which offer money advice.
Talking Money is providing
- Local networks in the four rural areas of Scotland where ARC Scotland already supports provider networks: Highland, Borders, Aberdeenshire, Dumfries and Galloway. These networks will take forward local action plans.
- Free training for support staff in each of these areas
- A Talking Money Enquiry Line run by ENABLE Scotland - telephone 0141 226 4541, Monday - Friday 1pm-4pm.
- Information about banking issues, resources and sources of money advice via the Talking Money web section on the ENABLE Scotland website.
- A seminar on the outcomes of Talking Money in February 2009.
