Active Support Network

The Active Support Network is part of the ARC Cymru Active Support Project. It exists to provide a source of information, support and encouragement for organisations using the Active Support model, especially those which have been introduced to the techniques through the training offered by the Project.

The Network holds regular meetings, currently in South Wales. These take place every 3 to 6 months and allow service providers to come together to discuss any issues around the Active Support model. We are fortunate to have the input of some of the academic pioneers of Active Support at these meetings, including Professor David Felce, Dr Edwin Jones, Professor Kathy Lowe and Dr Sandy Toogood.

Minutes and presentations from past meetings can be downloaded from here:

The next meeting will take place early in 2009.

In addition to the meetings, the Network operates an email based discussion group, to enable members to keep in more regular contact with one another and to provide a forum for asking questions and sharing experience and ideas. This forum currently has more than 100 members from around 40 organisations; while most of them are based in Wales there are some from further afield - even as far as Australia!
